Understanding our refund guidelines and how to request a refund

Important Notice

Vehicle history reports are digital goods that are delivered instantly, so Full Report purchases (GH₵500) are generally non-refundable once the report has been delivered. We do, however, issue refunds for failed deliveries, duplicate charges, and technical errors that prevent you from accessing your report. Please read this policy carefully to understand when refunds may be granted.

Overview

When you purchase a vehicle history report on CarCheki, you are paying for a digital report that is generated and delivered to your account instantly. Because reports are delivered automatically, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not automatically guaranteed once a report has been delivered.

This policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds may be considered, the process for requesting a refund, and the timeline for processing.

When Refunds May Be Granted

Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:

Duplicate or accidental charge for the same report
Payment taken but the report was never delivered
Technical error preventing you from accessing your report
Unauthorized transaction on your Mobile Money or card
Report failed to generate due to a system fault on our end

When Refunds Are Not Available

Refunds are generally not available in the following situations:

The report was delivered but didn't contain the result you hoped for
You changed your mind after viewing the report
VIN entered incorrectly by you, returning the wrong vehicle
Dissatisfaction with a clean or routine report outcome
Free Report (GH₵0) requests, which carry no charge

Refund Request Process

Step 1

Submit Request

Log into your account and navigate to your report purchase history. Click 'Request Refund' on the relevant transaction.

Step 2

Provide Details

Fill out the refund request form with your reason and any supporting documentation.

Step 3

Review Period

Our team will review your request within 5-7 business days. We may contact you for additional information.

Step 4

Decision & Processing

You'll receive an email with our decision. Approved refunds are processed within 7-14 business days.

Refund Methods

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method:

Mobile Money

MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo

Credit/Debit Card

Visa, Mastercard

5-10 business days

Partial Refunds

In some cases, we may issue partial refunds. This may occur when:

  • Platform fees have already been deducted
  • Payment processor fees are non-recoverable
  • Only part of a bundled purchase is subject to refund eligibility
  • A report was partially generated before a technical fault occurred

Dispute Resolution

If you disagree with a refund decision, you may:

  • Request a review by submitting additional documentation
  • Escalate to our customer support manager
  • Contact your bank or payment provider for a chargeback (note: this may result in account suspension)

Filing a chargeback without first contacting CarCheki support may result in suspension of your account and may affect your ability to purchase reports in the future.
